POSITION SUMMARY
Summit Packaging Systems is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support our high-speed aerosol valve and actuator manufacturing operations at our Racine, WI facility. This role is responsible for keeping production machinery and mechanical equipment running safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance and fast, effective troubleshooting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections and complete related documentation.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Fabricate or modify machine parts as needed using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Partner with the Tool Shop and Automation & Engineering teams on equipment installations, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with Summit's safety program.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns across assigned shifts, including weekend and overtime coverage as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and parts inventory records
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification a plus.
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance/mechanic experience, ideally in plastics, injection molding, or high-speed manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic and test equipment.
- Must be available for assigned shift, including overtime and occasional weekend work.
- Reliable transportation and authorization to work in the United States required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and machinery.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times on the production floor.
