Job Title: Solar Field Technician
Client: Helios Gridworks
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional weekends and on-call rotation

Position Overview:
Helios Gridworks is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Solar Field Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of distributed solar energy systems across the Austin region. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, outdoor environments, and contributing to renewable energy infrastructure.

The technician will work alongside experienced crews to ensure solar arrays and related electrical systems are installed and maintained to Helios quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of solar panels, mounting systems, and electrical components on residential and commercial sites
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of solar energy systems
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues, including wiring, inverters, and monitoring equipment
  • Safely operate tools and equipment, including ladders, lifts, and basic electrical testing devices
  • Maintain accurate service logs, work orders, and inspection documentation via mobile tools
  • Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times
  • Support site cleanup and ensure proper handling of materials and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers onsite



Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, humidity, occasional rain)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation to job sites or central dispatch location



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction, electrical, roofing, or solar installation
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • NABCEP Associate Certification (or interest in pursuing)
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety practices
  • Experience with mobile workforce tools or field service apps
